The Om Prakash murder case has shocked Bengaluru, with the retired IPS officer being stabbed to death brutally in his house on April 20. His wife, Pallavi, has been identified as the prime suspect, and their daughter Kriti was also picked up for questioning.
Officials say the couple had fought earlier over some issue when Pallavi sprayed chilli powder into Prakash’s eyes. As he screamed in agony, she stabbed him again and again. There were eight or ten wounds on his chest, arms, and stomach. Great swaths of blood splattered over much of the house.
After killing her husband, Pallavi had allegedly called a friend on video and told him, “I have killed the monster.”
A Longstanding Property Dispute Turned Deadly
Investigaters are convinced that a land dispute led to the Om Prakash murder case. Om Prakash had purchased a plot in his sister’s name. Pallavi had been insisting that he give it to her. In addition, she became irate when he registered another property in their son’s name.
Later on, their allegations grew stronger. Pallavi went to the extent of accusing him of pointing a pistol at her in a post she sent on WhatsApp to retired IPS officers. Apart from this, she openly complained about him and once conducted a protest sit-in outside her house.
Presently, the police are looking deeper into the motive and gathering more evidence. The case goes on.
