Many people from India visit Thailand every year. If you’re planning to go there, rejoice! Thailand has implemented new visa rules that will allow travelers to stay for extended periods without a visa, making entry easier for more international travelers. This also includes a new digital arrival system.
Visa Waiver Scheme Expanded to 93 Countries
According to the updated Visa Waiver Scheme, passport holders from 93 countries can now travel to Thailand for tourism, short-term business, or work without a visa and stay for up to 60 days. Officials have also indicated that more countries may be added to this list in the future.
Big Relief for Indian Passport Holders
Indian passport holders can now stay in Thailand for up to 60 days without a visa for tourism, meetings, or short-term business. Earlier, the stay period was more limited, but with the new rules, the allowed duration has been significantly extended. From January 2025, Indian travelers will also benefit from a simplified travel process, removing the need for separate applications for visa-free entry.
Introduction of Digital Arrival Card System
Thailand has introduced a new electronic Arrival Card system to reduce paperwork and ease congestion at immigration checkpoints. This digital system replaces the earlier Electronic Travel Authorization process and provides online information submission before arrival.
New Non-Immigrant ED Plus Visa Announced
The Thai government has also launched the Non-Immigrant ED Plus Visa, mainly aimed at individuals planning to stay in Thailand for study and work purposes. This move is expected to benefit students, professionals, and long-term visitors.
Aiming to Boost Tourism and Work Opportunities
With these updated visa rules, Thailand aims to promote visa-free and visa-on-arrival travel while making the country more accessible for tourists, workers, and students. Travel agencies and related authorities have already been informed about the new electronic visa system.
