The Kanpur Lamborghini crash took a major turn on Thursday when police arrested Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra. The luxury car accident injured six people and damaged several vehicles in the upscale Gwaltoli area of the city.
Police said clear evidence proves that Shivam Mishra was driving the Lamborghini at the time of the crash.
What Happened in the Kanpur VIP Road Accident
The accident happened around 3 pm on February 8 on VIP Road. A Lamborghini Revuelto, worth more than ₹10 crore, hit pedestrians and multiple vehicles. The car then climbed a road divider before stopping.
The crash created chaos in the busy area and left several people injured.
Mohd Taufeeq Files FIR After Lamborghini Crash
One of the injured victims, 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver Mohd Taufeeq, filed an FIR at Gwaltoli police station. Initially, police registered the case against an unknown driver. Later, investigators named Shivam Mishra as the accused.
Eyewitness Account Fails to Convince Police
A man named Mohan claimed that Shivam collapsed while driving. He said he tried to control the car with one hand. According to him, the vehicle first hit a three-wheeler and then mounted the divider.
Mohan also alleged that the car’s automatic locking system delayed his exit. He said he shifted Shivam to the driver’s seat before stepping out.
Police rejected this version after reviewing evidence.
CCTV and Videos Point to Shivam Mishra
Police Commissioner Raghubir Lal said CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts clearly show Shivam Mishra driving the Lamborghini. Senior officers also referred to videos that show bystanders pulling a man, believed to be Shivam, from the driver’s seat after the crash.
Investigators said these visuals match other technical findings.
Court Rejects Mohan’s Surrender Plea
Mohan’s lawyer submitted a surrender application before the court. However, Gwaltoli police did not name him as an accused in their report.
The court refused to accept the surrender and asked police to submit a detailed report.
Settlement Claim Raises Fresh Questions
Shivam’s lawyer claimed that complainant Mohd Taufeeq no longer wants to pursue the case. He said both sides reached a mutual settlement and compensation was paid.
Sources said police called Taufeeq to the station on the day of the crash. A written settlement was allegedly signed there. The then SHO, Santosh Kumar Gaur, was later removed from charge. Senior officials did not comment on the matter.
Family Cites Medical Condition, Police Disagree
KK Mishra first told police that a driver was driving the car. He later said he did not know who was behind the wheel. He also claimed the Lamborghini had developed a technical fault and was taken out for a test drive.
The family said Shivam suffers from epilepsy and receives treatment in Delhi. They denied claims of speeding or intoxication.
Police dismissed these arguments. Officers said forensic and visual evidence firmly place Shivam Mishra in the driver’s seat during the Kanpur Lamborghini crash.
