Ahead of Bakri Eid 2026, the Delhi Government has announced strict guidelines across the national capital regarding animal sacrifice, illegal animal markets, and waste disposal during the festival.
Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra said the administration will take strict legal action against anyone found violating the rules. Bakri Eid is expected to be celebrated on May 27, depending on the moon sighting.
Delhi Government Warns Against Illegal Animal Sacrifice During Bakri Eid
The Delhi Government has clearly stated that sacrificing cows, calves, cattle, camels, and other prohibited animals in Delhi is completely illegal.
Kapil Mishra said anyone involved in such activities could face criminal charges and legal action. He added that the Development Department has already issued official instructions to maintain law and order during the festival. The minister also appealed to people to follow the rules and celebrate the festival peacefully.
Animal Sacrifice in Public Places Not Allowed
According to the new guidelines, animal sacrifice in open public places like roads, streets, parks, and residential areas will not be allowed during Bakri Eid. The government said sacrifices should only take place at authorised and designated locations approved by authorities. Officials believe these steps are necessary to maintain cleanliness and avoid public inconvenience during the festival period.
Delhi Government Cracks Down on Illegal Animal Markets
The government has also warned against illegal buying and selling of animals in local colonies, roadsides, and temporary markets. Kapil Mishra said setting up unauthorised animal markets on streets and lanes is completely banned in Delhi. Authorities are expected to increase monitoring in several areas to stop illegal animal trade ahead of the festival.
Strict Instructions on Waste and Blood Disposal
The Delhi Government has asked people not to dump animal waste, blood, or remains into drains, sewers, or public spaces after sacrifice. The administration warned that improper disposal could create hygiene issues and lead to strict action from authorities. Officials have instructed people to ensure proper cleaning and disposal of waste at designated locations only.
Citizens Asked to Report Violations
Kapil Mishra urged Delhi residents to report any violations related to illegal sacrifice, unauthorised animal markets, or improper waste disposal. People can inform the police or the Development Department if they notice anyone breaking the guidelines during Bakri Eid 2026.
The government says the aim behind these rules is to maintain public hygiene, law and order, and peaceful celebrations across Delhi during the festival.
