Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the growing controversy surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education Class 12 results. The Congress leader alleged that there had been “massive tampering” in the evaluation process and said lakhs of students and parents were left shocked.
In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi questioned the government’s silence on the issue and demanded accountability. He claimed that students who worked hard throughout the year deserved clear answers instead of confusion and uncertainty.
Rahul Gandhi Raises Questions Over CBSE Evaluation Process
Rahul Gandhi alleged that the company COEMPT, which reportedly handled part of the CBSE work, had earlier faced controversy in Telangana under the name Globarena in 2019.
According to him, despite its past record, the company was still given responsibility in the CBSE system. He questioned why proper background checks were allegedly not carried out before awarding the contract.
The Congress MP also asked who approved the deal and whether any rules or procedures were ignored during the process. Calling it a serious matter, Rahul Gandhi demanded an independent investigation and urged authorities to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into the controversy.
How the CBSE Results Controversy Started
The issue started after several students claimed there were mistakes in the re-evaluation process. Some students also said that scanned copies of answer sheets uploaded by CBSE did not match their handwriting. The controversy gained attention after a student named Vedant Shrivastava shared his experience online.
Vedant said he had applied for scanned copies of his answer sheets after getting lower-than-expected marks in Physics. However, after receiving the documents, he claimed the Physics answer sheet linked to his roll number did not belong to him. He later posted screenshots online comparing the handwriting from his other answer sheets to highlight the difference.

Student Says He Worked Hard for Exams
In his social media post, Vedant spoke emotionally about the effort he had put into his studies. He said he spent an entire year preparing for the exams and sacrificed sleep, outings and peace of mind. The student questioned whether his real Physics answer sheet had even been checked properly.
Soon after his post went viral, he reportedly faced heavy trolling online. Some users even labelled him “anti-national” on social media.
Rahul Gandhi Supports the Student
Rahul Gandhi later came out in support of the student and criticised those attacking him online. The Congress leader said that a student asking for justice should not face abuse or political targeting. He also accused the BJP IT cell of trying to divert attention from the real issue. Addressing students directly, Rahul Gandhi said nobody should be able to steal their hard work or future.
Political Debate Intensifies
The controversy has now turned into a political issue, with opposition leaders demanding transparency in the CBSE evaluation system. Many parents and students are also raising concerns online and asking CBSE for clarification regarding the alleged mismatches in answer sheets.
So far, there has been no official conclusion regarding the allegations. However, the matter has sparked a major debate over transparency, accountability and trust in the examination process. With lakhs of students affected by board exam results every year, the controversy continues to attract nationwide attention.
