The Namo Bharat RRTS ridership crossed the 1-lakh mark on its first full day of operations. Thousands of commuters travelled on the high-speed train connecting Delhi and Meerut. As a result, stations and train coaches witnessed a lively and celebratory atmosphere throughout the day. The sharp rise in passenger numbers came just a day after Narendra Modi inaugurated the complete 82-km Delhi–Meerut corridor, along with the new Meerut Metro link. This marked the first time that commercial services began across the entire stretch, allowing commuters to experience seamless end-to-end travel.
NCRTC Sees Highest Ridership So Far
The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) confirmed that Monday recorded the highest passenger turnout so far. Officials had earlier indicated that ridership could cross one lakh by the end of the day, depending on commuter response.
Eventually, the estimate proved accurate as steady footfall continued till late evening. According to officials, the strong turnout reflects growing public confidence in the RRTS network and highlights the demand for faster and more reliable regional transport in the NCR. Officials said the strong response highlights growing trust in the service and points to rising Namo Bharat RRTS ridership in the coming days.

Festive Mood at Meerut Stations
Meanwhile, visuals from Begumpul station showed large crowds arriving from early morning. Families, students, and first-time riders gathered at the spacious concourse to explore the new facility and understand how the system works.
Many passengers took selfies and recorded videos inside the station and coaches. In addition, slogans like “Bharat Mata ki Jai” echoed during the journey, while some commuters welcomed the arriving train by showering flower petals on the platform, adding to the festive mood.
Smooth Crowd Management Impresses Commuters
Despite the heavy rush, operations remained smooth across stations. Station staff actively guided passengers at entry gates, ticket counters, and platforms to ensure safe movement.
As a result, queues remained orderly and crowding was well controlled. First-time commuters also received clear instructions on safety rules and boarding procedures, which helped avoid confusion and delays during peak hours.
New Sections Open for Daily Travel
On Sunday, the Prime Minister opened the remaining sections of the RRTS corridor. These included the 5-km stretch between Sarai Kale Khan and New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, as well as the 21-km extension from Meerut South to Modipuram in Uttar Pradesh.
With these additions, the entire corridor is now operational for daily commuters. This full connectivity allows passengers to travel smoothly across regions without changing modes, making the service more convenient for office-goers and students.
Faster Connectivity Across NCR
Designed for speeds of up to 180 kmph, the Namo Bharat RRTS aims to significantly cut travel time between Delhi and nearby cities. It connects major urban centres such as Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Modinagar, and Meerut.
Therefore, the project is expected to reduce road congestion and ease pressure on existing rail and road networks. Over time, it is also likely to change daily travel habits by offering a faster, more comfortable alternative.
