A shocking Madanapalle child rape and murder case has come to light in Madanapalle, Andhra Pradesh, where a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered by her neighbour, police officials said on Tuesday.
Police recovered the girl’s body from inside the accused man’s house, hidden in a drum. The incident surfaced after the child went missing on Monday evening, triggering a search by her family and local residents.
Girl Went Missing on Monday Evening, Family Filed Complaint
According to K Praveen, Deputy Inspector General of Police for Kurnool Range, the girl went missing around 4 pm on Monday. Her family approached the police soon after she failed to return home.
“The post-mortem report shows drowning as the cause of death. There are also signs of sexual assault,” Praveen told PTI. He confirmed that the accused killed the child and hid her body inside a drum in his house.
CCTV Footage Helped Identify Accused
The accused lived directly opposite the victim’s house. Police identified him after examining CCTV footage from the area, which confirmed his involvement in the crime.
After collecting evidence, police took the suspect into custody and launched a detailed investigation to establish the full sequence of events.

Tension Erupts in Locality After Crime
The brutal crime triggered anger and panic in the neighbourhood. A large crowd gathered outside the accused’s house and demanded strict punishment.
As tensions rose, police deployed additional forces to prevent violence and maintain law and order. Officials said some people with political motives attempted to inflame the situation.
Police Book Accused Under POCSO and Murder Charges
Police have registered a case under charges of murder, rape, and relevant sections of the POCSO Act. Authorities are closely monitoring the area to prevent further unrest. Police are continuing their investigation into the Madanapalle child rape and murder case.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and assured that strict legal action will follow. The police presence remains heavy in the locality to ensure peace and safety.
