The Maha Kumbh Mela is one of the largest and most important religious events in the world. Held every 12 years, it brings millions of pilgrims together to bathe in the holy waters of the Ganges River in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. In 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Mela, a gesture that showed his respect for India’s spiritual traditions and cultural heritage.

Prime Minister Modi’s visit was special not just for the political significance, but also for the message it sent about unity and faith. The Kumbh Mela is a place where people from different regions, religions, and backgrounds come together, and Modi’s presence emphasized how important it is for India to remain united in its diversity. By participating in the prayers and rituals, Modi connected with the people and showed his deep respect for the spiritual practices that are so important to the people of India.
During his visit, Modi also focused on the need for cleanliness and hygiene. With millions of people gathering, the government worked hard to make sure the Mela was clean and safe. Modi urged everyone to keep the area clean, promoting his vision for a “Clean India.”

The government also made significant improvements to the infrastructure in Prayagraj, including better roads, health services, and sanitation. These changes helped make the experience safer and more comfortable for the people attending.
