In the wake of Saif Ali Khan’s alarming encounter at his Mumbai residence, where he sustained grievous injuries, luminaries across the entertainment spectrum have raised their voices, expressing concern over the deteriorating safety scenario in the city.
Prominent actress Raveena Tandon, a co-star in films such as Parampara and Imtihaan, took to her Instagram stories to articulate her indignation.

“Celebrities and easy targets are being preyed upon in what was once a tranquil neighborhood,” she lamented. Highlighting the unchecked proliferation of nefarious activities, she added, “Bandra is succumbing to a surge of disruptive forces—accident fraudsters, the hawker mafia, encroachers, land usurpers, and audacious criminals who engage in phone and chain snatching while recklessly racing bikes. It’s imperative that stronger countermeasures be implemented.” She concluded with a heartfelt wish for Saif Ali Khan’s swift recovery, accompanied by the hashtag #Saif.
A Timeline of the Incident
To provide clarity for those unaware of the incident: Saif Ali Khan was viciously attacked in the early hours of January 16 by an intruder who infiltrated his home. The actor sustained six stab wounds and was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital for emergency treatment.
During a media briefing on Thursday afternoon, hospital representatives disclosed that the assailant inflicted a knife wound to Saif’s spine, necessitating the repair of leaking spinal fluid. The actor also sustained severe lacerations on his hands and neck, which required plastic surgery. Thankfully, he is now in stable condition, recuperating well, and out of imminent danger.
Chilling Details of the Burglary
Authorities from the Mumbai Crime Branch and local law enforcement have initiated a thorough investigation. Preliminary findings reveal shocking insights into the attacker’s methodology. According to police sources, the intruder scaled the perimeter wall of an adjoining compound to access the property. Displaying an unsettling familiarity with the building’s layout, he ascended via the rear staircase and entered the premises through the fire escape.
The harrowing encounter began in the room of Saif’s younger son, Jeh. Nanny Eliyama Philip recounted the ordeal, explaining, “I noticed the bathroom door ajar, its light glowing, and presumed it to be Kareena Kapoor. However, an ominous feeling gripped me, and upon closer inspection, I saw a man emerging from the bathroom and heading toward Taimur and Jeh’s room.”
The 56-year-old nanny bravely confronted the intruder, who then demanded an exorbitant sum of Rs 1 crore. In the ensuing struggle, she sustained injuries. Another domestic worker, Junu, rushed to alert Saif Ali Khan, who immediately confronted the assailant. In the violent altercation that followed, Saif was stabbed six times. However, with the assistance of another house help, Geeta, the actor managed to subdue the attacker and confine him to a room.
The Escape
Surveillance footage from the building’s sixth floor captured the intruder’s movements as he attempted to flee. Strangely, no evidence of his escape was recorded in the lobby area’s CCTV coverage. Investigators suspect he utilized the fire shaft to reach the ground floor and escaped through a rear exit.
This chilling episode underscores the urgent need for heightened vigilance and robust security measures to ensure the safety of residents, particularly those in high-profile positions.
